Argenteus becomes an official sponsor of Oxford Fashion Week May 2009
24/04/2009
As an Oxford based company, contemporary designer jeweller Argenteus is delighted to be an official sponsor of The Exhibition for Oxford Fashion Week in its first year, continuing the core company philosophy to promote the work of new and established British designers, something that has never been more important than in today’s uncertain climate.
Now in their 15th anniversary year, Argenteus has pledged to work even more closely with colleges and fashion and design courses across the UK, seeking out those great exponents of jewellery design to make sure they are seen where they deserve to be seen - on the great British high street.
Argenteus was established in Golden Cross Oxford in 1994. The first store was appropriately located in Golden Cross and was equally loved by town and gown, quickly establishing itself as THE place to come for innovative design led jewellery.
Growing organically from these humble beginnings into a chain of stores across the country, Argenteus has never lost that original passion for design or its love for the city where it all started. Recognised by the British Jewellers Association as one of the key retailers promoting the work of British designers, they have consistently built on this reputation and regularly feature the work of over 20 different UK designers and makers in their stores. Each one hand picked by the original directors for those elusive qualities - design, innovation and wearabilty.
Walk into any Argenteus store and you’ll discover an atmosphere unlike any other specialist jeweller. Branch managers are usually jewellery designers in their own right and many of the staff are drawn from jewellery design or art degree backgrounds. This means expert advice is available on everything from personal style to the best way to clean your diamonds.
Creative Director Fiona Mawson said :
“Oxford Fashion Week represents a fantastic opportunity for Argenteus to engage with new designers and the best embryonic talent at an early stage in their careers, as well providing a platform for the city to underline its importance on the UK and world fashion maps. We think British design is the best in the world and we hope we’re helping to prove it!”
